About this Event

Nau mai, haere mai. Join us as we work together to show a bit of love to a part of our neighbourhood that has been badly affected by flooding, and plant native plants on the banks of a tributary to Te Auaunga Oakley Creek. The plants will help to stabilise the stream banks, and bring the awa one step closer to becoming a thriving habitat for native birds and fish. We’ll finish with kai together at the end. All welcome!

You’ll need to wear gumboots or sturdy closed shoes. Bring a rain jacket and gardening gloves if you have any. Kids must be accompanied by supervising adults. Please note that the site is quite steep and slippery in some parts.

This event is supported by Auckland Council Healthy Waters, and is a collaboration between Auckland Council’s Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office, EcoMatters, Kāinga Ora, Ngā Ringa o Te Auaunga Friends of Oakley Creek, NZ Ethnic Women’s Trust, Puketāpapa Local Board, and Wesley Whānau Community Hub.
