Update Wednesday 19 August - with Auckland in Alert Level 4, our physical locations are closed but we’re still here for you and with you.

Here’s the changes to our services during Alert Level 4:

Any events, workshops and other in-person meetings scheduled during the time we are in Alert Level 4 will not take place. If you are registered for an event, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible to let you know if it will be postponed or be delivered via video conference. If this doesn’t suit, you’ll have the option to cancel your place.

Volunteers and interns: we’re not hosting any volunteer sessions or intern placements at the moment. Join our EcoMatters Volunteers Facebook group to stay updated.

Homes: home visits for Water Advice and Healthy Homes on a Budget workshops will be postponed. If you are booked for one of these sessions, our team will be in touch to arrange a new time. Find tips and advice for saving water here or try our DIY Interactive Water Check, an online version of the Water Check which you can do in your own time and your own pace.

Nature: all volunteer sessions are suspended but you can find plenty of advice and resources here on our website if you’ll be weeding at home or finding other ways to stay connected with nature. However, please don’t use the permanent community weed bins during Alert Level 4. When the alert level reduces, the usual guidelines around safe usage will apply. We’ll let you know any changes to pop up community weed bins scheduled for September onwards, when we know what alert level will apply at this time.

Bikes: our Bike Hubs are closed but we remain very much open for discussion on our Bike Hubs Facebook group here.

Waste: recycling and e-waste drop offs are suspended, as is our zero waste event equipment hire service. Regular volunteer sessions are also suspended. Find online home composting resources at the Compost Collective website. Auckland Council’s kerbside rubbish and recycling collections continue as normal, check details here.

Food: any regular volunteer sessions are suspended, while Love Food Hate Waste events will be rescheduled or delivered via video conference. We’ll be in touch if you are registered for an event to advise about any changes. Find more information about our food initiatives here.

For any other queries, please email and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
