HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE FUTURE OF OUR COASTLINES – PIHA SURF EVENT
Location
About this Event
Find us at the Billabong Grom Series at Piha and tell us what you value about your local coast.
Coastal areas are dynamic, and the effects of climate change are affecting these areas even more. Auckland Council is developing Shoreline Adaptation Plans to plan how to respond to coastal hazards and flooding. We’re working with them to help more people have their say on this important issue.
Auckland Council wants to hear your thoughts on how council-owned land and assets, such as parks, roads and other facilities located in coastal areas, should be managed in the next 100 years.
We’ll have a stall on Saturday 24 February, during the Billabong Grom Series surf event, happening at Piha, where you can share your thoughts about which council-owned assets you value most. We’ll also have some fun activities for the whānau to enjoy.
Auckland Council wants to better understand:
- what you do at the coast
- why this area is important to you
- which beaches you regularly visit and why
- and what you want council to consider when planning for the future of these areas.
There are other ways to have your say, including more planned community consultation events. Or you can give feedback online at AK Have Your Say, or email the team at [email protected]
