Conversations About Our Coastlines
Location
About this Event
Join us for an afternoon of conversation and storytelling with the legendary Sir Bob Harvey, well-known advocate for the environment, particularly that of Tāmaki Makaurau’s west coast. Hear Sir Bob’s stories and memories of this beloved area, and his aspirations for its future.
As part of this event, we’d also appreciate you sharing your thoughts, memories and hopes for this very special part of Auckland. We’re working with Auckland Council to help you have your say about what you value most about your local coastline. This information will develop Shoreline Adaptation Plans setting out how to respond to coastal hazards and flooding.
Auckland Council wants your thoughts on how council-owned land and assets, such as parks, roads and other facilities located in coastal areas, should be managed in the next 100 years. The council wants to better understand:
- what you do at the coast
- why this area is important to you
- which beaches you regularly visit and why
- and what you want the council to consider when planning for the future of these areas.
So come enjoy kōrero and kai, at what promises to be a memorable afternoon for anyone with a connection to our unique west coast beaches.
