About this Event

Join Jiarong Hu for a co-design workshop that examines how we can make urban community gardens more resilient. This is a workshop for community garden volunteers and organisers of all experience levels, or even those who love the idea of starting something new in their neighbourhood.

Using a visual card-based tool, you’ll be invited to reflect on your experiences with community gardening, and identify key values, strengths and future directions for your group. (You may also like to invite others from your community garden to attend.)

The session supports regenerative thinking by connecting people, whenua, culture, and shared responsibility, while encouraging practical actions that can enhance long-term social, ecological, and cultural wellbeing.

  • Contribute your voice to shaping the future direction of the community garden you’re involved in.
  • Connect with others who care about community, sustainability, and resilience.
  • Participate in a creative and interactive group process.
  • Share ideas in a supportive and inclusive space.

OUTCOMES

  • Learn how to identify key strengths and gaps within a community initiative.
  • Find out about practical strategies to strengthen community engagement and knowledge sharing.
  • Learn how to translate collective values into actionable next steps.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how gardens can support social connection, food resilience, and intergenerational participation.
