Raranga Weaving Workshop
Cost: $20
Location
About this Event
Join Drina Paratene who will teach you a very simple raranga technique, along with the appropriate tikanga when harvesting harakeke.
This useful weaving technique can be used to make a range of beautiful items including a pākē (a garment worn over the shoulders), a wall hanger and a necklace.
You will need a pair of scissors, a long-toothed steel nit comb for scraping the flax, and a 40m ball of 2/3mm brown string.
This workshop will take place during EcoMatters Matariki open day so there may be some onlookers; bookings are required to participate.
Health and Safety
Indoor protocols required – hand sanitiser and masks essential.
Limited to 10 people to allow for good spacing.
Please stay at home if you are unwell.
