About this Event

Join us for a Matariki planting and help celebrate the new bilingual name of this park, now known as Ōkaurirahi / Ceramco Park. As part of Project Twin Streams, we’ve been working together with local residents to help restore the streamside areas here since 2006.

This area was once distinguished by its mature kauri forest, acknowledged by the name Ōkaurirahi, ‘the place of huge kauri’. The name is being returned to the whenua and people of Tāmaki Makaurau by Te Kawerau ā Maki, mana whenua of Hikurangi (west Auckland).

We’ll be digging in to help maintain this local green space, including planting natives. Wear sturdy shoes and bring garden gloves. Please RSVP to [email protected]

Co-hosted by EcoMatters Environment Trust and Project Twin Streams, thanks to the Waitākere Ranges Local Board.
