Have no idea how to thoughtfully deal with your accumulation of old cellphones, dead laptops, cables, cords, gigantic televisions, blown speakers? Or perhaps you want to know what to do with that redundant phone/scanner/fax machine that once blew your mind with its advanced wizardry? Well, relax, we’ve made it easy for you!
We work with Abilities Group and Wrap ‘n’ Pak to provide an e-waste drop-off service for your unwanted electronic equipment. You can drop off your e-waste to our premises where they are then whipped off to Abilities to be thoughtfully and sustainably dealt with. All items are broken down into their base components and either recycled locally or sent to an ISO accredited recycling plant overseas. The aim is to try and send as little as possible to landfill and to reduce our carbon footprint by processing as much as possible onshore in New Zealand, sending only the parts we really can’t deal with overseas.
This is great – where can I drop it off?
You can drop off anytime between Monday to Friday 10am-4pm, or on Saturdays between 10am and 1pm, at our Visitor Centre on Olympic Place in New Lynn. Please Note. unfortunately we cannot accept large whiteware items such as refrigerators and washing machines. For weird stuff like batteries, lightbulbs and polystyrene surfboards go to Recycling Weird Stuff page.
How much will it cost?
There is a charge for some items (see below) that reflects the cost of handling these items sustainably. While many items are free! Yes we know it hurts the pocket a little, but it hurts the planet more when it winds up in a landfill!
