Let’s learn a bit more about some of our native plants, how to correctly identify them and a bit about how Māori use them for healing. You will get a chance to taste some remedies and learn about the philosophies that form the backbone of Rongoa Māori (Māori Healing).
Donna Kerridge is a respected traditional Māori medicine practitioner of Waikato Tainui descent. She has recently been appointed to the Ministry of Health’s Natural Health Products Advisory Committee and is also a contracted negotiator for the national collective of rongoa Māori practitioners, Te Kāhui Rongoa. Donna believes fostering a mutual respect for traditional Maori healing principles and knowledge alongside contemporary medical practices offers the potential for enhanced wellbeing for the people of Aotearoa. Learning and sharing the stories of her native land and its ecology is an opportunity to promote the healing of both the land and its people.
