Community Gardens Facilitator

Community Gardening is about uniting our community's knowledge, skills, and resources to grow and sustain edible gardens.

Community gardens also foster community development, leadership skills, community networking, and forums for education, health and wellbeing.

The Community Gardens Facilitator can help individuals and groups find the support they need to successfully establish and run their own back yard garden, community garden, or gardening group.

With rising food prices and increased interest in living more sustainably, the age old tradition of people growing their own fruit and vegetables has seen resurgence in popularity over the past few years. However, not everyone has the confidence to grow their own food. Fortunately Waitakere is rich with knowledge and resources just waiting to be utilised.
