About the Centre The Centre was officially opened in June 2004, and is situated on a main arterial route between Auckland and Waitakere cities. Just hop on a bus or train to the New Lynn Station - we're then a short five-minute walk down Clark Street.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff are available to answer your questions or point you in the right direction for specialist advice.

Take a tour of the Centre and discover information and displays on anything from solar hot water and energy efficiency to green building and renovating.

Visit our eco library for books, magazines, documentaries and films, or do your own research on the Centre computer.

Enjoy a stroll through the organic gardens, designed incorporating permaculture principles. They showcase techniques that require less maintenance than the average garden, but can be incredibly productive. The gardens are divided into zones: Compost Zone; Food Forest; Guilds; Native Re-vegetation and Maori Medicinal.

The Centre has working compost and worm bins on display - great for children and adults to discover just how simple and easy home composting can be.
